Field

Description
Max email sync size [kB]
This field defines the maximum quantity of data that a vessel is allowed to receive from the server (regardless if software update or data update) when synchronizing per email.
The entered value has to be >= 100 kB
Example: If an update is 10MB in size and the max email sync size [kB] is only set to 200kB, the update would NOT be transferred to the vessel at all. If you want such an update to be sent to the vessel, you have to set the value to at least 10'000kB.
If you would like this amount of data to be split and submitted in several emails, please enable the File Split Function and set the Max Split File Size (see below for further instructions).
Enable file split function
Sync files will be split into parts, if this check-box is activated.
If you have data limitations to your email communication you can use this function to break big sync files into parts and send each part in an email.
Max split file size [kB]
You may set a maximum to the size of the split files.
The entered value has to be between 100 kB and the "Max email sync size"
Note:
1."Max split file size" has to be smaller than the "Max email sync size" because "Max email sync size" describes how much data can be synchronised through email communication in total. "Max split file size" however describes the size of the single pieces. 2.Keep in mind that, when sending a sync file per email, the email itself has a certain data size that is added to the data size of the sync file. Example: If your communication system allows to send 2MB in one email then the value in this field should be LESS than 2MB (e.g. 1'500kB). An update of 7MB then would result in 5 pieces sent in 5 emails to the vessel.
Enable regular sync:
If the check-box is checked, the vessel will perform a normal sync.
If the check-box is NOT checked, the vessel can send sync files to the server but will only receive an acknowledgment file to confirm the receipt of the sync file. The vessel will not receive any data from the server.

Email
The vessels email address that is used for synchronisation by email.
Max online sync size from server [kB]
You may set a maximum to the amount of data the server can send to your vessel when synchronizing online (not per email).
If there is no value entered, there are no limitations to the sync size (= unlimited).
The entered value has to be >= 100 kB
Max online sync size from vessel [kB]
You may set a maximum to the amount of data your vessel can send to the server when synchronizing online (not per email).
This value is also visible on the sync window on the vessel. If the sync amount on the vessel is bigger than the allowed max online sync size, the option for direct sync is disabled on the vessel. (See chapter "Synchronise by online data connection" in the offshore client manual)
If there is no value entered, there are no limitations to the sync size (= unlimited)
The entered value has to be >= 100 kB
