Automatic synchronisation

The automatic synchronisation will perform a periodical sync, without the users of the software having to sync manually.

If the automatic synchronisation is set, the MESPAS Cube will automatically synchronize in the background according to the settings.

The necessary settings depend on the chosen Sync Mode:

1.Online sync: If your vessel has an online connection and is able to sync without having to send the sync file per email.

2.File-based sync (email): If your vessel performs the sync through exchanging sync files per email. Your sync file will be saved in a defined directory and has then to be sent by email manually.

The chosen sync mode will also be the pre-defined setting when choosing to sync manually.

Online Sync Mode

1.Go to menu "My profile" > "User Settings" and then click "Click Here"

1.Select the menu "Automatic synchronisation"

1.Set "Enable auto-sync" ball_A_t ticker to switch the feature on .

2.Set the day and time frame for the periodical sync.
Note: The time is according to European Central Time zone

3.Choose the Sync-Mode "Online sync" .
Note: The maximum allowed sync size (set by the office) is also valid for automatic online sync.

4.Select a vessel User from the list and set the correct password . This is needed for the authorization in the central server.

Close the Window to save the settings. The synchronisation will run at the specified time without any further interaction from the user needed.

File-based (email)

1.Go to menu "File > Settings" and then "Automatic Synchronisation"

2.Check the box "Enable auto-sync"

3.Set the day and time for the periodical sync.
Note: The time is according to European Central Time zone

4.Choose the "File-based (email)"
Note: The maximum allowed sync size (set by the office) is also valid for automatic online sync.

5.A username with a correct password has to be entered because the service will need authorization to sync when running in the background.

6.Enter the necessary data for the file exchange.
(The entered data is just an example)

Setting	Explanation
Network domain	Your Windows network work group or domain.
Network user	The Windows user name by which the base directory is accessed. THIS USER MUST HAVE WRITE ACCESS TO THE BASE DIRECTORY!
Password	The password for the Windows user.
Directories	General information The directories may be any directory on any computer which is connected to the same network as the Cube. The Cube will access the directory across the network using the Samba protocol. The following conditions must be met: •The path to the directory and the directory name MUST NOT contain any spaces! •The folder needs to be shared across the network. TCP/UDP ports 137, 138, 139 and 445 must be open. •It needs to allow write access for the Windows user by which the directory is accessed. •In Windows Explorer you can access the folder by \\<COMPUTERNAME>\path\folder In order to use that path here, you need to replace \\<COMPUTERNAME> with smb://<COMPUTERIPADDRESS> and you need to replace all backslashes (\) with forward slashes (/) So, in the example above, the base directory setting looks like this: smb://<COMPUTERIPADDRESS>/path/folder Input directory The MESPAS Cube is scanning this directory for sync files from sync@mespas.com. The MESPAS TSM user has to save the sync answers from sync@mespas.com in this directory. Output directory The MESPAS Cube creates a sync file and saves it in the Output directory. The MESPAS TSM user has to take the sync file from the output directory and send it to sync@mespas.com . Older files will be overwritten by when a new sync file is created and saved. The MESPAS Sync-Servers answer will be sent by email back and has to be loaded conventional.
Max size for complete sync	The automatic sync will always create a complete sync file. If the set max size is met, the automatic sync will create a regular sync file instead. This setting prevents the unexpected sending of big amount of data through email in case a lot of documents were added to the MESPAS TSM.
Polling interval (in seconds)	The interval by which the input directory is checked for new sync file answers.
