Critical and essential product

You may define products as critical or essential. The definition of parts as "critical" or "essential" is used for easy filtering in the Jobs to do Screen and for reporting purposes.

The difference between critical products and essential products is that the monitoring of maintenance on critical products has to be reported to authorities as the flag state or the class, while the monitoring of essential parts is for internal use. You may e.g. define the main engine as critical, as it is needed to ensure the vessels maneuverability, but a the coffee machine as essential.

Copy product

Many types of equipment can be found twice or multiple times on the same vessel or are installed identical on sister vessels. In order to facilitate the data entry of equipment into the Installation Data Management (IDM), products can be copied.

In order to be able to copy IDM products the user needs to have the role "IDM administrator". As copying products does entail some risks for your data structure and should only be done by trained users, this role is distributed by MESPAS only.
